Story Behind the Vehicle

Intro

This is a 1972 BMW 3.0csi (E9) in the assembly phase of a comprehensive restoration. The exterior was recently stripped and painted Fjord blue. The seats and door panels were reupholstered in premium tan leather, the dash was recovered, all wood restored, trim was polished, bumpers rechromed, headliner replaced; carpet replaced; comes with new seals and most of the other parts you will need to finish this aborted restoration. The 3.0 liter inline 6-cylinder engine was rebuilt 20k miles ago, recently detailed, and is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. This car is being offered by CSi, Inc. Pomona, California who can complete the restoration for the new owner or provide any additional parts that buyer may need to finish it himself.

Exterior

The exterior of this Karmann designed E9 was stripped and repainted Fjord Blue using German paint and Glasurit clear. It includes restored bright work, trim and chrome, new weatherstripping, brackets, and emblems.

Interior

The interior was reupholstered in premium tan leather ($500 per hide) on front and rear seats and door panels. A new headliner is already installed. The wood trim was refinished, dash is completely recovered and includes new two-tone carpet (not installed). This E9 has power windows but no air conditioning.

Mechanicals

This 1972 BMW 3.0CSi has the 2,986cc displacement, factory rated 200 horsepower engine with Bosch D-Jetronic electronic fuel injection mated to a stock 4-speed manual transmission. It previously completed a comprehensive rebuild and detail, and still needs to be installed in the car.

Summary

This E9 is in the assembly stage of an aborted restoration. This is an opportunity for a new owner to complete the restoration to their own specifications.  The seller, CSi Inc., can complete the restoration or supply any missing parts for the owner to complete it himself.
