To be quite honest, the Alpina brand was one that I wasn’t as familiar with as I should have been. I haven’t paid much attention to Alpinas, but just got the feeling that they were special cars – cars that were elite and for those who demand only the best.
The F06 6 Series Gran Coupe is generations past what I ever owned and could be optioned with features that make this car competitive with even the cars of today. Though the F06 has been on the market for over 11 years now, I still remember how quickly it stopped my heart when it came out. It seemed so upscale and modern, with advanced tech and great powerplants. But it was the breathtaking looks – the sloping roofline, the wide hips, the gorgeous matte paint, the frameless windows, the waterfall leather dashboard, the contoured rear seats that met the back of the center console, and the proportions – that left me speechless. I had never seen a more bespoke, gorgeous car that resonated so much with my passion for style and elegance. And the cherry on top: it was a BMW.
Because of the F06, the 4-door coupe was a silhouette I knew I had to own. But I didn’t want just any Gran Coupe – I wanted one that was special and would stand out amongst the rest, a mint example that was exclusive and understated in its capabilities. I prioritize individuality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail in everyday life. This is just what the Alpina B6 Gran Coupe was built for.
For me this car was very unexpected and I wasn’t seriously looking for one at the time. But boy does this B6 check all the boxes - its got beauty, its got grace, and it certainly picks up the pace. I love its ability to do 2 things brilliantly – be a long-distance, effortless cruiser for miles on end and turn into a exhilarating, powerful brute at the stomp of a throttle.
